I’ve been very busy this month with various projects, oil paintings, pastels, pencils, watercolours.

It’s important to keep your hand and eye in by drawing and painting as much as you can.

I’m trying to get back to more sketching. I did hundreds last year, but haven’t been quite so disciplined these last few months as I’ve been busy with commissions. The trouble is, you need the exercise of sketching and drawing daily to keep those commissions fresh.

I love the fresh light effect that comes from  sketching with pencil and watercolour and here’s a couple of little watercolours I did – the first whilst waiting for my husband to bake the ingredients, and the other a barn owl from a reference photo by Karen Fullbrook.

I have been sketching with my pencil from life too, always a challenge with subjects who don’t necessarily sit still!

The Arts and Crafts Emporium

I am lucky to belong to the Arts and Crafts Emporium on Facebook. We make arts and crafts with a different theme every month. This month has been  ‘Over the Rainbow ‘ and there’s still a rainbow of rainbow of goodies on offer. These are a couple of watercolours I did for the event.

These are still for sale as originals and prints in my Etsy shop.

Canvas prints – New product

As an experiment, I had one of my portraits printed onto canvas the other day and I’m really pleased with the results.

You can now add a canvas print to a pet portrait order from and extra £20.
