Hello, I’m Kristin from Pastelesta in Yateley, Hampshire. I love to draw and paint, and have been drawing animals and portraits since I was a little girl. I studied art at Aberystwyth in the beautiful Welsh countryside and still have a love of the area.
I draw as often as I possibly can and find it very satisfying to fill sketchbooks with drawings of the world around me. I like to encourage others to do the same as I believe that observation and practice are the keys to growing as an artist.
My work tends to focus on people and animals, I think because I love the feeling of seeing a character develop on the page or canvas as it ‘comes alive’. I try to use a variety of different media, depending on the subject or maybe the feeling I want to convey.
Pastel is very effective for drawing fur for animal portraits, and I love the light, illustrative effect of watercolour for sketches and quick paintings.
I have recently been exploring oils for portraits and I love their richness and the sculptural quality they give to tone.
I enjoy teaching art to others and have a small number of private pupils. If you are interested in learning to draw or developing your technique, get in touch.
